Rocky’s celebrated thirty-five year military career is marked by a continuous string of successful command, director, staff, instructional and combat leadership portfolios in both peace and war on five continents. He is a veteran of five operational tours that include Deputy Commander Joint Task Force Afghanistan / Task Force Kandahar and Task Force Commander in Haiti and has served as Chief of Staff in a variety of operational headquarters throughout Canada and at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa where he led, administered and managed comprehensive and multi-disciplinary directorates responsible for the financial management and developmental investment of the Canadian Army.  He is also a graduate of the Royal Military College, the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College and Canadian Forces College in Toronto.  A master of organizational design, transformational leadership and targeted strategic communication, Rocky’s reputation was one where he was not merely acknowledged as a master practitioner of change management, but also a fundamental instrument of leading institutional change at all levels in the Army.  Rocky is renowned for challenging our clients to explore new and innovative approaches to intelligence, strategy, leadership and disciplined execution. 

Lieutenant-Colonel (Ret’d) Fred Aubin, CD, MCGI - Founder & CEO

A 34 year command-level combat veteran of the Canadian Forces, Fred leads a new and interesting consultancy team with an extensive arsenal of expertise for what he calls, “The Corporate Battlefield”.  A seasoned, dynamic and adaptive leader, Fred has commanded everything from specialized strategic advisory teams of 20 to large multi-disciplinary task forces of 600, both at home and abroad in harm's way. Dr. Paul A. Roman, CD, PhD, P.Eng. - Partner

During his 20-year military career in Communications and Electronics, Paul commanded the Canadian Army’s only electronic warfare squadron. He also served as Director
of the Canadian Army Experimentation Centre, where he conducted studies to assist the Army in making capability development decisions, putting him at the forefront of
validating most of our modern military decision support and command support practices. Since leaving DND in 2001, Paul has pursued an academic career at both The Royal
Military College and more recently at Queen’s School of Business where he is an Associate Professor of Management Science specializing in Operations Management. He
has also been an active consultant and facilitator in the development of two Army Campaign Plans and the CF Transformation Campaign Planning Team. His award-winning
research “Games-Just How Serious Are They?” demonstrated how proficiency at the gaming console increased effectiveness in the field. Since July of 2011 Paul has been

Lieutenant-Colonel (Ret’d), Dr. John Girard, CD, PhD, MCGI, C.Mgr - Associate

A 24 year veteran of the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Artillery, John served in an extraordinary variety of command and strategic-level staff positions in Canada,
the United Kingdom and Germany, where he honed his leadership proficiency in the Profession of Arms.  He retired at the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 2004 while serving as
the Director of Knowledge Management at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa and he continued pursuing that avenue of expertise in the academic and commercial
sectors.  Currently, John is a professor and Peyton Anderson Endowed Chair in Information Technology at Middle Georgia State College where he teaches graduate and
undergraduate business classes and his current research focuses on knowledge management, social media, innovation, and globalization.  John is also founder and Chief
Knowledge Strategist of Sagology (www.sagology.com), a firm dedicated to facilitating collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing through keynotes, workshops, and
consulting.   His published works include the books Building Organizational Memories (2009), A Leader’s Guide to Knowledge Management (2009), Social Knowledge (2011),

Brigadier-General (Ret’d), Dr. Jim Cox OMM, CD, PhD - Associate

Jim Cox is a former airborne infantry officer who has served in an extraordinary variety of leadership and staff positions and at all levels of command in Canada, Cyprus,
Europe, Africa and indeed throughout the world with our UN partners and NATO allies.  Jim has commanded and coordinated the combat activities of an extensive spectrum of
multidisciplinary forces in circumstances of extreme risk and where circumstances demanded the utmost in confident leadership and effective decision-making.  Before retiring
at the rank of Brigadier-General, Jim culminated his 35 years of military service by leading a NATO strategic military intelligence staff in Mons, Belgium where he spearheaded the
transformation of NATO’s military intelligence organization from its Cold War structure to a more modern system in order to meet the needs of the contemporary complex adaptive
security environment. Since leaving the Canadian Forces, Jim served for five years as a parliamentary analyst providing advice and support to Senators, Members of Parliament
and parliamentary committees, in the fields of National Security, Defence and Intelligence.  He has also supported the Canadian parliamentary delegation to the NATO
Parliamentary Assembly, served as a celebrated contributor to Frontline magazine and was the Executive Secretary of the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence
Studies (CASIS).  Jim holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in War Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada, a B.A. in political studies from the University of Manitoba, is a graduate
of the Canadian Forces College and Canadian Land Force Command and Staff College, as well as undertaking General and Flag Officer studies at the NATO Defence College in
Rome.  Today, Jim teaches Canadian foreign policy at the University of Ottawa and leads a graduate course in civil-military relations at the Norman Paterson School of

Colonel (Ret’d) Michel Legault, CD - Associate

Recently retired from a 39 year career in the CF, Michel Legault brings extensive expertise in national and international Security Operations, Strategic Planning, Risk
Management, and International Relations in the United Kingdom, the Balkans and the Middle-East.   A proven and decisive leader of Canadian Air Forces, Michel commanded
Canada’s first international field deployment of Griffon helicopters to Haiti as well multiple command and staff tours where he was responsible for operations, standards,
training, Intelligence and planning for more than 1000 personnel and 70 aircraft.   As the Director of Flight Safety for the Department of national Defence, Michel implemented an
extraordinary spectrum of major improvements in the management of risks at the national level and successfully led complex air accidents investigations throughout the nation
and abroad.  An outstanding negotiator and team player, Michel commanded the Multinational and Observer Force Liaison Team in facing the daily challenges of balancing tact,
diplomacy and political savvy with military needs, in the strategic context between Egypt and Israel.  As the Defence Attaché in the Balkans, Michel’s strong interpersonal skills
in multicultural and international environments skilfully orchestrated a two-year effort to run a successful and first-ever regional Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) seminar,
which brought together six Balkans countries - a major contribution to security cooperation and regional stability.   He has been recognized for his all-of-government teamwork
approach to operations and a strategic vision in effectively dealing with the diplomatic community and senior military officials - the result:  new defence partnerships for
Canada in the UK and in the Balkans.
Colonel (Ret’d) Bruce Jackson, CD - Associate

Bruce Jackson served for 37 years as a Canadian Forces Signals Officer in a wide variety of technical, operational command, staff and instructional positions where he mastered
the art of assessing the operational needs of senior commanders and applying procedures and technologies to solve strategic goals.  A seasoned professional in the production
of strategic plans, Bruce has taught the subject at the Canadian Forces College, practised it as a member of the strategic level Joint Staff at national level and in operations in the
Balkans.  In particular, he has extensive experience in security risk management, having been responsible for the Information Technology Security programme in DND for four
years and a wide range of executive-level experience in developing concepts into workable plans, integrating ideas, processes, people, technology, organizations and training to
achieve strategic goals.  He was an early thought leader in Information Operations in the Canadian Forces and has extensive command, staff and instructional experience in a
variety of information-related disciplines, from the design, use and application of information technology and electronic warfare systems through to employment of Psychological
Operations and Public Affairs.  His well-developed mentoring and facilitation skills serve to add structure to the process of drawing out information needed to create sound plans

Colonel (Ret’d) Eugene J (Gene) Manzie CD - Associate

Gene brings unparalleled aerospace engineering and leadership expertise with 30 years of service in the Canadian Air Force and 15 years of senior executive leadership
experience with SPAR Aerospace.  As an senior AERE officer his career spanned numerous disciplines including flight test instrumentation, quality assurance, integrated logistics
support, training, aircraft maintenance, large scale acquisition, program management and contracts negotiation and management. He led organizations with up to 600 military, civil
servant and contractor personnel. Following his military career, Gene worked for ten years in the aerospace industry at the Director, Managing Director, General Manager and
Vice President levels. He was the Managing Director, then BOD member and Chair of a Canadian/European joint venture operating in a complex multinational industrial / political
environment. NATO’s AWACS program was his customer as were the programme’s 14 contributing nations and 30 supporting industries. In Canada he worked at the executive
level managing a company with a workforce of 750 employees and a P&L responsibility of $100M. Their mandate included complex avionics and structural development efforts,
and aircraft MRO, with multi-year contracts valued at over $100M each. After retiring he was engaged as a consultant with SPAR, first in an executive operational and advisory
capacity and then for several years as the company’s representative in New Zealand / Australia in a contracts management / business development / government liaison role. 
Gene offers a strong mix of military / industrial leadership, strategic planning, program management, risk management, contracting, negotiation, financial management and business
development expertise.
Major (Ret’d) Deanna M. Brasseur, CM, CD - Associate

A 30 year veteran of the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Air Force and an international aviation pioneer, Dee was one of the first three women to earn their wings as
pilots in the Canadian military and one of only two female combat pilots in the world flying the supersonic, CF18 fighter aircraft.  Throughout 15 years as a pilot, instructor and
examiner Dee accumulated over 2,500 hours extensive flying experience throughout North America and Europe.   Dee retired from the regular component of the Canadian
Forces in 1994 following an assignment at National Defence Headquarters with the Directorate of Flight Safety where she was responsible for all Jet Fighter and Trainer
Aircraft Accident and Incident investigations.  Afterwards, she successfully established and continues to operate a professional speaking, training and personal performance
coaching business.  Acknowledged nationally and internationally - for her courage to speak out, she was featured in MacLean’s Magazine December 1998 Honour Roll
Special Edition as an “Outstanding Canadian”.  Success Motivation International Inc, selected Dee to receive their 1998 World Client of the Year Award for Personal
Achievement; in creating, training and leading the first Canadian Precision Flying Team to compete at the 1996 World Championships.  As a capstone for her outstanding
contributions in Canadian aviation, Dee was inducted as a Member of the “Order of Canada” in, 1999.  A graduate of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, Dee is
a dedicated professional whose extensive experience in leadership, investigation, analysis, institutional change, strategic level planning and professional communication mark
her as one of our key White / Red / Blue Team players.
Colonel (Ret’d) Dave Marshall, OMM,CD - Associate

Dave has recently retired from the Canadian Army after more than 36 years of distinguished service as an officer and combat veteran, having led and commanded troops throughout the spectrum of conflict in Canada, Northern Ireland, Germany, Iraq, the Middle East and Afghanistan. He has 12 years of background experience at the operational and strategic level with both the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He is also a former accredited diplomat, having served as the Canadian Defence Attaché to Afghanistan during 2010/2011.  Dave is a well-recognized negotiator in the international setting, having been the Deputy Force Commander and Chief of Staff of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the Golan Heights, as well as the Special Advisor to the Commander of the NATO Training Mission-Iraq.  His more recent experiences as the Chief of Staff and later Special Advisor for the Chief of Defence Intelligence at the National Defence Headquarters included the mandate to source, train and validate a series of multi-disciplinary, joint intelligence centres to support combat operations in Afghanistan as well as the whole of government response to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, while concurrently managing an annual operating budget of $100M. Dave has managed and led institutional change within the Canadian Army with compelling strategic effect. He has also formulated numerous corporate-level Business Plans and Business Continuity Plans during his military service. Dave has a strong understanding of government and has considerable experience in dealing with bilateral government issues.  He is both a graduate and former faculty member of the Canadian Army Staff College and the Canadian Forces College.  Dave is an accomplished strategic mentor, advisor and negotiator, with a proven record as a senior educator.

Clausewitzian Centers of Gravity”, appears in the Journal of Information Warfare.  Larisa’s background in both military and commercial strategic communication issues, coupled
with her comprehensive understanding of commercial / technical / historic issues shaping and challenging communication activity today, makes her an ideal Red Team adversary

Specializing in International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights, International Criminal Law, Security Sector Reform and Justice Sector Reform, Stuart has practiced and instructed internationally on the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC/IHL), the application of human rights & criminal law to military operations and the establishment of post conflict legal standards in failing and failed states.  After a long career of litigation that included representing his clients at the Supreme Court of Canada and acting as outside counsel to the Speaker of the Senate, Stuart now teaches for the Canadian Forces on the subjects of morality, ethics and professional leadership. Stuart also lectures at Algonquin College in Ottawa, the NATO School at Oberammergau, the Austrian Defense Academy and is a designated SME for the Centre for the Centre of Civil Military Relations (CCMR) in Monterey California.  Appointed Queen’s Counsel by the Government of Canada, Stuart is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario), the Canadian Bar Association, the International Institute for International Humanitarian Law, the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War, the American Society of International Law and the Canadian Forces Intelligence Branch Association. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ottawa, a Master’s degree from Carleton University, a Bachelor of Law/JD degree from Queen’s University, a Master of Law from the National University of Ireland and is in the process of defending his doctoral dissertation in ‘Command Responsibility’ at the University of Ottawa.
